Sexuality is complex and requires the harmonious functioning of many parts of ourselves. Our inner thoughts and emotions, our interpersonal relationships, and the sensations and functioning of our physical bodies all impact our sense of ourselves as sexual beings as well as our feelings of sexual fulfillment.
Most of us carry at least a few sexual burdens, biases and blind spots acquired through personal experience as well as through messages from our family and culture. These limitations impact us as individuals and can also cause painful points of disconnection in relationships.
Conventional psychotherapy often does not adequately address the intricacies of finding the Sexual Self and healing sexual burdens. Traditional sex therapy methods may emphasize behavioral strategies without adequate integration of subjective feelings and beliefs. For these reasons, Patricia Rich is happy to offer her own evolving model based on the principles of the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz.
Whether you are sorting out desire discrepancies, sexual dysfunction, sexual orientation, gender identity, how to spice things up in a long-term relationship, clarifying sexual values, enhancing consent practices, facing a change in your sexual partnership or recovering from infidelity, Self-Led Sexuality offers an empowering, authentic and organic way to navigate your way to greater safety, sensuality, steaminess and satisfaction.
